The Cathedral Young Voices have been keeping themselves busy in the month of March with visits to both the Symphony Hall, Birmingham to perform as part of Staffordshire Performing Art's enormous Staffordshire Sings event and as part of Sing Up's celebration of 18 successful months at the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden. The Young Voices sang in Birmingham as part of a massed choir of over 500 primary school children, which was directed by Cathy Lamb who had been invited as guest conductor for the event. One of the highlights of the occasion was singing There may be trouble ahead with the Staffordshire County Youth Orchestra.

Not many professional performers get the chance to sing at the Royal Opera House and therefore when Lichfield was invited as one of only two Cathedral Chorister Outreach Project's out of forty-two to go and sing as part of the big celebration, they jumped at the chance. The highlight was singing for Howard Goodall (Singing Ambassador and composer of works such as the theme tunes to Blackadder and more recently, QI). We had not known that Howard would be there to see us so we quickly interupted our proposed programme to sing his theme tune to the Vicar of Dibley, The Lord is my shepherd, and were then thrilled when he posed for a photograph with us.
